Artist Statement:
This Sculpture explores movement through and within its space. It was inspired by a chapter from the book 'Natural History of the Senses'. In this chapter, it discussed how, if you use paint to cover a turtles shell, it harms the turtle. In my piece, I wanted to convey this message of two hands individually impacting this flower petals in the middle of the piece. I believe the context is so important because it says if society itself doesn't realize how much it changes things. We take things in our own hands and we evolve them ourselves. It seems that we leave no room for the natural to express itself.
