  Keep Looking Wooden dowels, wood flooring, paper butterflies from book pages, wood glue, wire, yellow and orange highlighters 15", 17", 12.5" Inspiration:                        My inspiration images for Keep Looking are based upon the 'cut out' method, and an  ara mitama. The 'cut out' method is where you find a page with text on it, wether its from a newspaper, a book, or a printed piece of paper, and you cut individual words or phrases from this page and use it to create a completely different meaning than the way it originally started. An ara mitama is a japanese creature from an anime series called Ayaka. These creatures represent anger, aggression, and other heated emotions. In the anime they make a big appearance and they must be fended off by the main protagonist. The creatures come from the people that visit the island, Ayaka. On Longing Assignment

  "The body is the primary mode of perceiving scale." Seeing as these two figures are standing next to one another, they are resembling the scale they have from one another.  "The souvenir speaks to a context of origin through a language of longing, for it is not an object arising out of need or use value." These two pieces I created we're for both of my grandparents. Each one in a different language but when combined they create a whole piece themselves resembling the relationship I have and they have with me.  "The souvenir reduces the public, the monumental, and the three-dimensional into the miniature, that which can be enveloped by the body." I am out in public, re-creating a piece, that is in three-dimensional but much smaller in scale compared to the original. Spoken Seasons Natural leaves,  natural pressed flowers, plaster, golden chain, museum wax, black foam board, hot glue, pallet wood, plexiglass, acrylic paint and water (stain), nails and screws 21",  24",  3" Found Object Artist Statement           Spoken seasons, has already been spoken about but if I can hint more into what’s spoken seasons really means even more so now that a shadowbox was created for it, I would begin How a shadowbox works. Shadowbox is used to contain contents within inside of it and it can’t be touched. A shadowbox is meant to keep the outside from coming in. And with spoken seasons, I have created space of natural cycles with my dancing leaf ladies.and I created a shadowbox because these dancing ladies represent the four seasons that we go throughout every year.
